ArrowStream Introduces ArrowScan Mobile Inventory Management -- Unlocking Efficiency and Accuracy in Restaurant Food Cost Control and Delivering Savings of $300 - $400 per Store per Month

Chicago, IL, Oct 18, 2011 – ArrowStream, a leading provider of supply chain management technology and logistics services for the foodservice industry, introduces ArrowScan, a handheld scanning device that drives cost savings for restaurant operators by increasing both the speed and accuracy of inventory management.

ArrowScan delivers, on average, a savings of $300-$400 per store per month.

ArrowScan will drive cost savings for restaurant operators by:

  1. Ensuring the products received match the products ordered
  2. Avoiding missed credits for shorted or damaged product
  3. Accelerating inventory counts through automation and streamlined, easy-to-use handheld technology
  4. Eliminating error-prone data entry and unit of measure conversions
  5. Accurately identifying true food waste to facilitate cost reduction efforts
  6. Enabling product freshness tracking on critical items, and reducing the impact of product recalls

The result is a measurable improvement in efficiency and accuracy, complete visibility for the operator and greater operational consistency across restaurants.

ArrowStream has recently engaged in successful ArrowScan pilots with multiple large QSR chains. Ed Anderson, Board Chairman of Quality Supply Chain Cooperative, Inc., and president and COO of Wen-Rich, a Wendy’s Franchisee, says, “The results from using ArrowScan have been compelling. In a short time, ArrowScan has driven more efficient store management, a measurable improvement in inventory accuracy, and most exciting, a reduction in our monthly food waste.”

ArrowScan combines bar code scanning technology with an intuitive and full-featured software interface to deliver back-of-the-restaurant automation that is simple, fast and highly accurate. ArrowScan users scan manufacturer bar codes to conduct high-speed order receiving that verifies every case received against the cases ordered.
The device notifies Distributors of damaged or shorted product with images of any damaged cases. Intelligent, guided inventory counts enable inventory capture of all product locations in a store, automatically converting quantities to the units of measure expected by the back office systems. The device tracks all inter-store transfers with two-tiered approval.

ArrowScan is linked into the ArrowStream Information Management System (AIMS) supply chain visibility platform, enabling a solution that is ready out-of-the-box and requires no cumbersome maintenance of product information. The platform provides restaurant operators with instant visibility into order, invoice and product details that are all fed directly from distributor systems and mapped to chain and store-specific items. This data flow ensures that store operators leverage the most current and accurate item information. Additionally, users experience seamless transitions as new items are purchased and as vendor and SKU numbers change.

ArrowScan is a wirelessly connected device, and all information captured is transferred immediately to restaurant back office systems. By automating and eliminating a range of traditionally manual activities in the restaurant, ArrowScan delivers reliable information into these systems, empowering them to provide greater value.
