Wing Hing Foods Selects ArrowStream as Logistics Services Provider

Significant Freight Cost Savings and Shipping Flexibility Key to Manufacturer’s Choice of
Supply Chain Management Leader for Freight Management

Chicago, IL, May 4, 2009 – ArrowStream, a leading provider of supply chain solutions for the foodservice industry, announced that Wing Hing Foods has selected ArrowStream as its strategic freight management partner.  Wing Hing is the leading manufacturer and distributor of authentic Asian noodle and wrap products for restaurants, stores, and consumers nationwide.  Wing Hing will draw on ArrowStream’s nationwide transportation network to gain cost savings through flexibility in choosing routes, and by leveraging the network’s significant freight volume to optimize truck utilization.

Like many foodservice manufacturers and distributors in today’s environment, Wing Hing has been challenged to find ways to contain or reduce costs while enhancing customer service – objectives significantly limited by fluctuating fuel prices and fewer available carriers due to consolidation and carriers going out of business.

Shipping constraints further hindered cost and service advancements.  These include mandatory weekly deliveries due to shelf life issues, the need to service numerous small volume Distribution Centers (DCs), little control in the issuing of POs, and difficulty in combining freight into a larger network.

Wing Hing has enjoyed tremendous growth, but with that growth comes complexity in transportation and order management.  “In our efforts to better serve our many nationwide distributor, restaurant and store customers with the freshest products, we needed a solution that would take wasteful miles out of our freight planning and execution,” said Dave Abrams, President and CEO of Wing Hing Foods.

ArrowStream will provide Wing Hing with an extensive nationwide transportation network of inbound freight to distributors. This enables flexibility in choosing routes and management of freight volume to optimize truck utilization. More volume means more full trucks, more full trucks mean less transportation cost per order. “Less cost per order means more revenue saved that we can use to provide even greater variety and quality to our customers,” said Abrams.

The addition of Wing Hing’s volume to the ArrowStream network enhances its value to all other manufacturers, distributors and chain operators that contribute volume to the network.  “We are excited to welcome Wing Hing as a valued partner in our nationwide network.  We look forward to working with Wing Hing and collaborating with their trading partners to increase service and savings, benefiting the total supply chain,” said Rodger Mullen, President of ArrowStream.
